Now Sam realized why he hated driving so much. No, he didn't mind pulling a trailer by himself, but sitting in a truck for countless hours was pure torture. Maybe that's why his day started out poorly, but, he was here. Frowning slightly, Sam had pulled his truck into the barn's parking lot, and hurried to unload his beauty before anyone noticed him; just so they wouldn't offer to help. Swinging the trailer door open abruptly, Sam was greeted with a hot breath, smelling of sweet alfalfa, that instantly brought a smile onto his thin, pale face. "Hey there baby. Are you doing okay?" His gloved hand reached out to stroke Amber's gray tinted nose, and the large mare nickered, snuffling his pockets for treats. A quiet chuckle carried from his mouth, and was followed by his kind reply; "Alright, let's get you out." Closing the door quietly, Sam took a few wandering steps to the back of his trailer, wincing when he felt his knee give out on him, but he managed to make it, and leaned against the trailer, foggy huff escaping his lips. Grunting, Sam slowly unhitched the trailer's ramp and let it down, hurrying up when his palomino mare began to step in place, whinnying shrilly.

Shortly after unloading Amber, Sam glanced around, pale eyes taking in everything.. Although, there wasn't much to look at. Everything was covered in white. Delicate ears, tipped with a light layer of snow, Amber snorted and looked around, her eyes wide with surprise. "C'mon girl." He replied to the palomino, then started off towards one of the buildings set atop the large, spacious land. Unfortunately, it wasn't the barn; rather, it was the Indoor Arena, empty. "Make yourself comfortable." He remembered the conversation; short, clipped, and very, very brief. Too bad he'd forgotten to ask where the Barn was. "God ******!" Sam muttered, feeling his knee pop, and ache underneath his layers of clothing. The arena would have to do, for now. Clucking, the pair moved into the heated building, and a faint sigh left his lips. Despite appearing freaked out, Amber entered the structure willingly, snorting. Only then did she spook, at her own noise as it echoed through the arena. Her hooves skittered in place, and every inch of her 16.1 hand frame wanted to turn and run. Instead, she rushed forward and shoved Sam in the small of his back roughly. Collapsing on his left knee, the rather tall boy crashed to the ground, laying on the freshly tilled dirt for a few moments, sighing into the ground. "Amber, sometimes I really hate you." Words were sarcastic and cold, but he wasn't blaming his horse, not at all. Propping himself up on his good knee, Sam placed a chilly hand on Amber's warm withers and pulled himself up, brushing himself off, then continued his walk, glancing around constantly, praying that no one saw his fall. All I need is someone to worry over me. A simultaneous sigh escaped both the horse and the boy's lips, and then fell into a silent, steady walk, rounding the sides of the ring.

***emilie.

Emilie looked up from sitting in the judge's both and drawing, seeing a boy enter with a grayish palomino boy. he couldn't hear him, but he looked new. She smiled and put her pad and pencil down, skipping out and to them, hovering near his feet when the mare pushed him down. She giggled. "Don't you want to know where the barn and tack room is? Val has a trunk for you. Your Sam. Thats Amber" She guessed accurately, a smile lighting up her face as she took sigh of the mare, her own horse in a stall not too far away, probably eating. She was wearing a light blue coat, black skinny jeans, Converse(s), and a backwards baseball cap, her long hair pulled back into two long braids, twisting and turning down her back. She flitted around, knowing the barn was almost as much hers ads the owners, and she turned her radio down so it was quiet. She was pixie like as she floated and hovered, looking and speaking every which way before focusing no the boy ahead of her. He looked old. She giggled, and then wandered off, probably to find Valkyrie's foal.

A sudden, random giggle followed Sam's quiet words, and it made the lanky boy twist his head around, pale eyes glaring harshly at the girl. His forehead creased into a frown, obviously annoyed that the girl had laughed at him. Or atleast, that's what he thought. Halting the palomino mare, Sam twisted his body around stiffly, and stared at the.. 'eccentric' girl. "Don't you want to know where the barn and tack room is?" Sam's mouth gaped open slightly, thin jaw dropping, and he inhaled a deep breath before giving a forced smile, and a tense reply. "That would be great." He also nodded in response to her guesses, reaching out to give Amber's delicate face a gentle stroke, his eyes softening. When he turned to face the younger, hyper girl, she'd already turned and was prancing around, much like how Amber did when she was in a mood. One eyebrow raised, Sam watched the girl quietly, leaning down to rub his left knee and stretching it. Exhaling rather loudly, Sam started to walk after the young teen, Amber in tow, following rather willingly. Abruptyl, Sam spoke. "Who are you?"

He continued to walk after the spirited teen, facial features etched in confusion. This couldn't be the farm owner.. Could it? Absently, Sam began to pull off his black gloves, slipping them into his back pocket, and continued to walk after the girl, lagging behind from a pure lack of enthuisiasm.

Obviously he’d want a trunk, stupid was she? And who was she? Oh, that was easy. He smiled and flipped back her hair. “Emilie Flirt Ryder at your service.” She announced, still smiling as she looked to the mare. “My friend Valkyrie owns the stable. She’s 2 years older than me.” She added, smiling again. Oh no, she was fine, perfectly fine, fine, really, she’s fine.

She skipped to the stable, her notebook tucked under her arm. She paused at the tack room. ”Tack room.” She announced, pointing to the warm and cozy little room. Then she gestured to the black trunk that had Sam Hall written in sharpie on clear tape. She at down in a la-z-boy and continued her writing.

Emilie then stood up after a few minutes and led him out to show him the empty stall near Monty. She paused to hug her gelding, then looked to the shiny nameplate. So unlike Valkyrie. “This is my horse-Monte Carlo. And that’s your hose’s stall.” She announced, hugging her horses furry neck proudly. She smiled, and then sat down near her horse’s big spotted head and started drawing.

Pale eyes sidled over to the black haired girl, and Sam let out a long sigh, listening to her reply, as always, bubbly. "Emilie Flirt Ryder at your service." Emilie.. A frown spread across Sam's face, and he remained quiet for a few moments, then replied, his voice rightfully confused. "Pleasure to meet you.." Before he even finished, Emilie had started talking again. It was too confusing; Sam's hand reached up, and he scratched his cheek absently, then gave a slight nod. "So you help out around here?" Even if Sam believed that this girl had gone nuts - seriously, he'd never dealt with anyone back where he used to live, unless it was someone who'd been there when he broke his knee - he didn't doubt her, and continued to walk after her, slowing occasionally to let Amber sniff at random stall boards. Clucking to the palomino mare, he picked up a slow jog to catch up with Emilie, who was already far ahead of the pair.

When Sam caught up to the black haired girl, she was showing him the tack room and where his stuff would go. Sam made a mental note to himself, nodding quietly, lips pressed together tightly. Soon, they were off again, but Sam kept pace with Emilie, shoulder to shoulder, his knee feeling alright for the moment. "Do I have to get anything for Amber's stall?" He explained, slipping past Emilie to walk into Amber's new stall, which was next to a handsome pinto gelding, the horse's name plate reading Monte Carlo. Even if Sam weren't one for sucking up and acting like a brat, he had to admit, the gelding was a fine built creature, even from a distance. When Emilie replied, her voice sweet, Sam turned around to face the girl, but she'd been addressing her horse, obviously. "Hm. He's a nice looking horse. " Sam paused, hating that he was complimenting someone. Already stepping out of his quiet, causitc shell. Still, he continued. "What do you do with him?" Quickly, Sam unclipped Amber's leather lead rope from her brass plated halter, and slipped out of the stall, making sure the mare had enough water. "I can give her some of my hay from the trailer, right?" He kept his back to the girl, who'd long since began staring at a pad of some sort, and Sam used ths time to pace back to his trailer, unloading everything, and dragging it back, hiding his limp.

post; done.
thoughts; better. my muse is sorta back. xP

Emilie looked up. Nice to meet her? Oh. That was…she struggled for the right word. Not unique not unique at all. ”Oh, well that’s new.” She scoffed, offended, as she finished the shape of Amber’s head, drawing a head portrait of the purty mare. Monty snorted over his slightly insane owner’s black hair, shaking his head.

She flicked her hair over her shoulder with her nails[painted black with red balls of fire on them] and then went back to drawing, shading in things, when she looked up again. ”She should have everything ready, less you wanna personalize your stall.” he said, gesturing to the ribbons and signs and posters cluttering her stall walls.

She finished her drawing and looked up. ”I mostly play with him. He’s good at hide and seek,. But we’ve been to Syracuse Invitational, and some other biggies.” She announced. She had a list of them at home. She finished her drawing, and in her recognizable scrawl, wrote Amber up top and tore the page off, silently handing it to Sam.
